ARES

Amateur Radio Emergency Service

In the United States and Canada, the Amateur Radio Emergency Service is a corps of trained, volunteer amateur radio operators, organized to assist in public service and emergency communications. It is organized and sponsored by the American Radio Relay League and the Radio Amateurs of Canada.

W4UCG

The North Georgia Tri-State Amateur Radio Club, Inc. formed a sister ARES club to train and prepare our members should a need arise.   Our emergency communications services are available to government and healthcare agencies in our area. In fact, our Club has provided equipment to outfit a VHF/UHF/HF station at the Union County EOC and will staff it whenever requested by the county's EMA Director. In times of emergency we will activate using the ARES's call sign W4UCG.  The call sign's suffix 'UCG' identifies us as Union County Georgia.
